LCC 3406: Documentary Filmmaking | Students will live and study in Gorizia , Italy , home to our partner institution, the Film Studies Department of the University of Udine . A two-hour train ride to Venice , Gorizia is also a short journey to the European capitals of Vienna and Prague . The immediate vicinity of Gorizia features castles, museums, and historic sites. Students accepted in this program will enroll in two courses and receive six credits, which may be applied toward a film studies certificate. Students will also have the option of enrolling in the Oxford summer program, which follows the completion of courses in Italy . DATES May 15-May 25: Orientation and immersion in Italian film and culture at Georgia Tech May 29-June 23: Study in Gorizia , Italy | ACCOMMODATIONS Students will share double rooms in the Grand Hotel Entourage, a recently renovated building that dates back to 1447. Each room will come equipped with a private bathroom, a television, and a small refrigerator. A buffet breakfast and Italian-style dinner will be provided daily. The hotel is a short walk to campus and the center of Gorizia. | COST Program cost is $3,000, plus tuition and airfare. All students registered for the program will pay Georgia Tech in-state tuition, with a premium of $250 for out-of-state students.  | Angela Dalle Vacche is the director of LCC's Italian Film Studies program, a summer study abroad opportunity sponsored by LCC and the University of Udine in Italy. Under the auspices of FILM AT TECH, every year she organizes two film series for the School of Literature, Communication, and Culture of Ivan Allen College at the Georgia Institute of Technology: the African Film Series in October and the French Film Series in April. | Professor Angela Dalle Vacche Associate Professor |  | Shannon Dobranski has served as the undergraduate coordinator for LCC since 2001. In addition to teaching, her responsibilities include assisting with STAC advisement and recruitment, and managing the McEver Program for Engineering and the Liberal Arts. Shannon has taught English Composition as well as Shakespeare, Studies in Fiction, and Classical to Medieval Theater. | Dr. Shannon Dobranski Undergraduate Coordinator |  | Roberto Nanni Independent filmmaker | | | | Filmmaker Roberto Nanni has worked with the US group Tuxedomoon, and in particular with Steven Brown, with whom in 1989 he made Greenhouse Effect: Brown reads John Keats, and in 1996 Piccoli ostinati. In 1989, together with the director Giuseppe Baresi, he made Fluxus: Milano Poesia, produced by Silo. His 1993 film, Lâamore vincitore: Conversazione con Derek Jarman, won first prize and the public prize at the Turin International Young Film Festival. Nanni lives and works in Rome. |  | Primary interests are in the field of interactive real-time 3-dimensional virtual environments focusing on ways to shape their content and improve their spatial design, their presentation, and investigate their range of interaction. Publications include: 'Play it again Sam: Film Performance, Virtual Environments and Participators'.
